ART/INTERVENTIONS

Frank Kickball Jesus presents 3-sided psychogeographical football:Kickball Jesus Arrives from the USA to share with us his divine message on the future of Psychogeography pitting the various International factions of Psychogeographers against one another in a tournament of American “Kickball” where they will either work out their differences on the kickball field and achieve a new enlightened soildarity or descend into a complete chaotic factured mess from which they will never return! Psychogeography will never be the same again!

Remains of a Future City by Parking Non Stop: Studio installation using processed field recordings, from Welsh art collective.

A Walk on the Wild Side: A “tanka” style poem/artwork in a gallery, and a walk, from David Haley of MIRIAD, MMU.

Manchester Mental Mapping Workshop: A foyer type installation which invites visitors to make their own mental map of the city - from Nottingham Psychogeographical Unit.

Blackpool-Manchester: Installation from Nogo Voyages, an artistic travel agency based in France.

Finding Utopia In Manchester: Installation/performance/ fanzine from John McGurk, based in New York

A-Void: A walk/ performance from Graham Jeffery and David Pinder (London based)

Pansy Project: Walk and apartment-based installation - Paul Harfleet and Chris Buckley record locations of homophobia around the city.

Deep Topography: Nick Papadimitriuou curates a gallery-based garden shed which he uses as a storage vat of regional memory.

TEA: Installation from Manchester-based group who’ve done a lot of psychogeographical-inspired work over the past few years.

Identikit Manchester: Mark Rainey (who works at Urbis) leads a walk themed around corporate chain stores.

New Orleans in Manchester: US artist Brian Rosa curates photographs and interviews from the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Bury That Dog: A walk around haunted Manchester with Peter Portland.

Travelling Light: People use GPS-enabled mobile phones to track their journeys through the city - these are then projected in live installation. From Jen Southern, Jen Hamilton, Chris St Amand - all based in Canada.

The Abandoned Buildings Project: Photo-installtion from Manchester-based Jane Samuels.

Excerpts from the Stone Library: Poet Alyson Hallett reads from her pschogeographically-inspired latest collection, published by Peterloo Poets.

Manchester, Mythogeography and Mobile Machinoeki: Performer/writer Phil Smith presents his version of a Japanese “Walking station”, offering supplies, gifts, maps, rituals, etc., to the public.
